Teach the Children Well

Nearly 700 Indonesian schoolchildren have visited ProFauna’s Wildlife Education Center in east Java since January this year. ProFauna facilitators engage the children-from toddlers to junior high school students-with conservation games and other activities. In one game, children must guess the identity of a chosen animal species by asking questions about its characteristics; incorrect guessers are "punished" by being put briefly into a cage-and learn to appreciate the plight of wild animals in captivity. The children also receive full-color booklets, newly printed with the assistance of IPPL, that describe the challenges facing their country’s wild creatures.
