Adopt a Gibbon

Baby & Blythie

In 1986, IPPL took over the care of the dynamic Vietnamese gibbon Baby and his noisy mate Blythie, both former pets. The Lafores of Pennsylvania were given two baby gibbons as pets by a son who was working in Laos. It is not know how they arrived in Laos from Thailand, but we know Blythie is a Vietnamese gibbon. The Lafores raised the two and kept them as pets for 25 years. When the couple reached 80 years old, they felt they could not take proper care of their pets. The McGreals were called for advise on the matter and that same night at midnight, John McGreal jumped in the car and drove directly to a suburb of Philadelphia to pick up the two gibbons (true dedication to animal care!). As you can see, these two gibbons are both near or over forty years of age.
