Beanie
In March 1991, we were asked to adopt Beanie, an infant gibbon living at a research foundation in Florida. The unlucky animal had been stricken with encephalitis when just one year old. The resulting optic nerve damage left him blind. It also caused him to develop epilepsy.
Of course IPPL accepted Beanie. He has done very well with us but needs special care and always will. Amazingly, his acrobatic skills are as good as those of any seeing gibbon. One of his favorite playmates is the IPPL rescued dog Bullet, who is also blind.
A Farewell to Beanie.
