Cleon, Clementine & Louis Louis
In March 1991, we adopted Beanie, an infant gibbon that had been living at a research foundation in Florida. Later, the same foundation's young director died suddenly and the foundation got rid of all its primates (oddly, to concentrate on bats). The three remaining foundation gibbons were transferred to IPPL: Cleon and the late Clementine, who were Beanie's parents, and their infant son Louie-Louie. Both adult gibbons were very old and had missing fingers and toes as a result of suffering frostbite while left out one freezing night when living at a zoo up north. It is very unlikely that any of these animals would have been accepted by any place except IPPL's sanctuary.
